As the Age of Kali advances, the plundering of earth’s resources accelerates. Fruits, vegetables and grains become scarce. Humans are reduced to grunting morons eating their own children’s flesh for sustenance. Modern science, replete with all its “whiz bang” gadgetry, cannot stop the impending barbarism because hiding behind the curtain of supposed scientific objectivity is the grand plan of the Supreme Scientist, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
Sri Isopanisad, as translated and explained by Srila Prabhupada, directly counters the teaching of modern science. It serves as an invitation and treatise on character development and is especially meant for shaping policy and governance in the turbulent times ahead.
It is a timeless manifesto capable of slowing Kali’s march by proclaiming both the primacy of personality in every sphere of life while validating the benefit of material knowledge as well. Sri Isopanisad’s eleventh mantra speaks to the balance between matter and spirit.
“Only one who can learn the process of nescience and that of transcendental knowledge side by side can transcend the influence of repeated birth and death and enjoy the full blessings of immortality.”
Humbled by Srila Prabhupada’s cautionary note and focused on applying all knowledge — mundane and supra mundane — in the “side by side” service to human society, we offer an eight course curriculum to our resident devotees and visiting student farm apprentices. Each one hour indoor class session is conducted in the Small Farm Training Center office.
